The right to bare arms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment from the US Constitution.

'A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.'

The people of the United States form a militia that is able to keep guns to protect the freedoms of our United States. In the formal military we took an oath to "protect our country against all enemies foreign and domestic." This should also be the role of the militia.
