Select right grade of steel/ material check it in reference chart. Cut material (on band-saw) with excess so that it is longer than its required length. (that is because band-saw doesn`t cut straight edge and in any case it will have to be faced) (I am not the best person to answer but this is better than unrelated stuff that people write)
