From what I have read, You go to jail. In Florida even if you are crippled, deaf, and blind, and your ex wife hit the lotto for 100,000,000$ you still must pay, even if you have been paying for 50 years. That is the great American justice in the state of Florida. Not one man has ever ever ever been relieved of lifetime alimony in this state. Amazing isn't it, not for any circumstance. Ask a Florida lawyer if you don't believe me. There are movements on the internet to stop this gross injustice but our lawmakers and lawyers don't want to here it. Florida has a law that the states interest(collecting money, not requiring people to work aor make them make any attempt to get off welfare or live off working people) takes priority over the litigants in a divorce. Amazing the high quality legal system we have. I don't know about other states but in general the law will make you support your spouse no matter how much you suffer. the state only cares about the alimony recipient. The payer has not 1 right that I am aware off. God Bless you and be ready for the mistreatment and torture our justice system will so gladly bestow on you

If you have proper documentation of hardship and/or disability, some other arrangements will be made.Jailing a homeless cripple will benefit no one, but be prepared to have this debt dog you til your dying day if the EX is getting State Aid. If she is self-supporting and has any heart left, she may let you off the hook . If you are an honest man fallen on hard times, I pray she will do the charitable thing. If you can prove she is living with another man and you are in a State that recognizes common-law marriage , this may mitigate in your favor.
