The second amendment to the US Constitution states:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
This amendment provides individuals the right to keep and bear arms - i.e. weapons including guns. There is current debate as to what individual rights to gun ownership are actually conveyed by the amendment:
One opinion is that the Second Amendment did not apply to individuals; rather, it recognized the right of a state to arm its militia.
A second opinion is that the Second Amendment recognized some limited individual right. However, this individual right could only be exercised by members of a functioning, organized state militia while actively participating in the organized militia's activities.
The third, known as the "standard model", is that the Second Amendment recognized the personal right of individuals to keep and bear arms.
In the case District of Columbia vs. Heller, the 2010 US Supreme Court pretty much upheld the "standard model" ruling that the Second Amendment protects an individual right.
No they are Conservative. They fight to protect the Second amendment. ( The right of an individual to bear arms.)
Some common questions about the Second Amendment include: What does the right to bear arms mean? Does the Second Amendment protect individual or collective rights? Can the government regulate gun ownership?
The second amendment allows two things: -The right of the people to possess and own firearms. -The right of the states to raise militias. Such an amendment was meant to secure the rights of Americans from their own government, and to protect the country incase of a foreign, hostile invasion.
The second amendment is the right to bear arms. Which means you have the right to own a weapon to protect yourself. You could then, choose to draw a fire arm.
This amendment speaks to state militias and the right to bear arms. Added: In a recent Supreme Court ruling the right of individuals to keep and bear arms (at least at the Federal level) was how the Amendment was interpreted.
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution was designed to protect the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms. It was included to ensure that individuals have the means to defend themselves and their country.
The Second Amendment is there to protect our right listed in the first Amendment.
The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, and there is no right to hunt declared anywhere in the Constitution.
Second Amendment
Second amendment I don't think that the second amendment gives the right to keep and bear arms. People already had that right. The second amendment states that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infirnged.
To protect yourself!
So ordinary people can protect themselves.
