None of them. All of them are presidential republics, with the exception of Cuba which is a communist state.
The 1997 Census of Government says it best... "There were 87,504 governmental units in the United States as of June 1997. In addition to the Federal Government and the 50 state governments, there were 87,453 units of local government. Of these, 39,044 are general purpose local governments - 3,043 county governments and 36,001 subcounty general purpose governments, including 13,726 school distict governments and 34,683 special district governments."
The term "republic" is rather general, and is used to indicate a state in which the public can elect or nominate a ruler instead of having the state be ruled by a monarch. Currently, 135 countries claim to be republics. There are many different types of republics, though. For example, there are socialist republics, communist republics, mercantile republics, Calvinist republics, democratic republics, liberal republics, and even Islamic republics. The United States operates as a democratic republic, which is a state that has publicly-elected rulers, and in which all members of the public are guaranteed the same rights, even despite minority status.
The state governments set up counties and give them authority to set up a county government. Cities and towns are incorporated and awarded charters by the state governments which give them the power to set up a government. State laws set the limits of local government and the process for establishing them.
The purpose behind Federalism was: a) To establish a governing body for the state and national governments. b) To strengthen state governments. c) To build cooperation between the state and national governments
