Sorry, I can not help you with the serial number, but if you tell me the model or if there is no model on it the caliber and barrel length and if the butt is round or square I think I can tell you.
Smith and Wesson does not build rifles. The rifles they sell are made for them.
This is for SMITH and WESSON firearms.

Need the serial number to answer.
There really is no way to know exactly when it was made. Smith and Wesson makes parts in batches and there is no guarantee that a frame made today will be built today. The closest you can come is a date showing when it shipped from the Smith and Wesson waresouse. Without a detailed description, to include all features, no way to give an estimate.
It was built in 1983.
that is determined by the revolvers serial number.....................
There is no way to know when it was built, unless it was a custom order. The best you can do is when it was shipped from the Smith and Wesson wareshouse. You will need to call Smith and Wesson to find out the ship date as publishe sn data does not cover this sn.
The S&W mod 620 (stainless steel, adjustable sight .357 Mag revolver) is built on the S&W "L" frame. It is a 7 shot revolver which has a two piece barrel similar to the Dan Wesson design. I am sure that someone has written a bad review on the gun since some writers are paid to write bad reviews, but I know of nothing bad about the gun.
Unknown. Shipped @ 1973
