This ethics bill was created to limit the amount of money lobbyists can spend on a legislator. This money is obviously a way for lobbyists to "get on the good side" of a legislator and thus induce him to side with the lobbyist. This ethics bill made the limit for the amount of food, gifts, and/or entertainment lobbyists could provide legislators to equal less than $50.
A legislator plays a crucial role in the bill process by proposing, debating, and voting on legislation. They can sponsor a bill, advocate for its merits, and work to gather support from other lawmakers. During committee reviews, legislators analyze the bill's implications, suggest amendments, and ensure it aligns with their constituents' interests. Ultimately, they participate in the voting process to determine whether the bill advances to the next stage or becomes law.
The legislative process for a bill typically begins in either the House of Representatives or the Senate, where a member of Congress introduces the bill.
