Harry Truman had three Attorneys General during his presidency. They were Tom C. Clark, who served from 1945 to 1949; J. Howard McGrath, who held the position from 1949 to 1952; and Herbert Brownell Jr., who served from 1953 to 1957, although Brownell was appointed by Truman's successor, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Clark was notable for his role in the early years of the Cold War, while McGrath focused on civil rights issues.
Harry S. Truman was a Democrat.
