Authority is delegated to another person
Authority is the exercise of power. I a democracy the authority in a country is given to a prime minister or president by the people. That person then appoints ministers and sets up a government responsible for running a country. Thus authority is delegated down form that person. Put another way President JF Kennedy's famous plack on this desk "the buck stops here" meant that the reverse was true all decisions made in his name cam back to him and his desk. Thus authority is delegated form one person in authority to another in a long chain with a 'chief' at the top - the chain of authority is 'vertical'.
Long Island Power Authority was created in 1985.
Delegated powers are the specific powers and responsibilities granted to the federal government by the Constitution. These powers are spelled out explicitly in the Constitution and include things like the power to regulate commerce, declare war, and coin money.
The Congress has delegated powers of the President to increase so he can make more necessary decisions to help run the US.

The authority of priests and bishops within the wider Christian church has not ended.Roman Catholic AnswerThe "authority" of priests and bishops is only a participation in the authority of Jesus Christ over His Church. They have no authority on their own, but only when they are speaking as His representatives. As such, their "authority" will last as that of Our Blessed Lord. As He created the entire world, then I suppose His authority, as exercised through His priests and Bishops, will last as long as the world lasts.
