Flag desecration (burning the flag, stomping the flag, etc.) is totally legal in the United States! A court case in 1989, and again in 1990, ruled that it is unconstitutional for the government to ban flag desecration under the First Amendment.
However, other countries such as Japan and New Zealand may have restrictions on flag desecration.
It is not something that is punishable, but it is a violation of the U.S. Flag Code. See related links for more about the United States flag code.
There is no law against it. The proper way to dispose of a worn out flag is to burn it.
you can but you will be badly punished if it the dictators flag that they state as the new flag but say your in cuba if you burn say an American flag Castro wont care
If the flag is not your own flag, it can be considered vandalism, which is illegal. Additionally, it is in violation of "Flag Code" contained in Federal Code. Violation of Flag Code is; however, not a punishable act. To read the "Flag Code," visit the Related Link.
