Because without it we would have no freedom and woman would not be able to vote and we would treat blacks the same we treated them in 1950s.

That's just silly. 1) We DON'T have freedom. 2) The Constitution had nothing to do with women getting the right to vote. 3) The Constitution treated blacks even more harshly than they were treated in the 1950s.

The Constitution DID guarantee certain freedoms. Free speech; the right to bear arms; free enterprise; and others. But the Constitution has been destroyed in the name of building a welfare state, where the government "takes care" of everyone. That is not what the Constitution was about at all. And so I'll stick with my original answer, which someone deleted - the Constitution is NOT important anymore.

The US Congress no longer CARES whether an act violates the Constitution and neither does the President. And the Supreme Court, unfortunately, has usurped the power to "interpret" the Constitution, which means they can change it anytime they want to, completely circumventing the Amendment process. Recently, the Supreme Court has extended "imminent domain" beyond all reason, effectively removing any and all barriers to government confiscation of private property. And one Justice has even publicly stated that the Supreme Court to look to the laws of other nations when interpreting the US Constitution. So how can anyone say the Constitution is important anymore? When the people who are charged with upholding it routinely ignore it.
The constitution was so important because it was about the people so they had wanted to see what was or what had changed.
