When it was written the weapons we have today didn’t exist. The guns of the time were flintlock and it won’t be until 1860’s when the repeater rifle was invented, but today we have people who own military style weapons that can shoot hundreds of bullets at a time. The problem is that the 2nd amendment is about keeping an armed militia and not about people having guns to wage war on their fellow citizens. So, now there is a debate on the use of guns and the type of guns. I think we have to decide how far we want the second amendment to go. If a person wants to hunt or hobby shooting that is fine, but the question comes about a person owning military style weapons. They aren’t going to hunt an animal with a weapon like that, but people. We have to think of the common good of the people so we don’t have to worry about attending an event like the one in Las Vegas.
