Sentences that came from the Inquisition ranged from being burnt alive at the stake, beings starved to death, being held in chains for the rest of your life in a single cell, having to always ware a mark that exposed you as a heretic in society, loosing all you property, being excommunicated, being whipped in public or being forced into slave labour. (to name on a few of the possible sentences by the Catholic Inquisitions)

Roman Catholic AnswerSorry, but the above is wild exaggeration. For the most part actual, recorded sentences imposed by the Inquisition conducted by the Church ranged from the most severe, which included imprisonment for a time, exile, to having to make a pilgrimage, to the most lenient, which could range from having to wear a cross or some other public penance OR private penance such as saying a certain number of prayers. Only the most intractable heretics who where judged treasonous by the civil government were judged by the state, and those sentences ran to exile or imprisonment, or execution in a very limited number of cases in the most severe cases.
