Court, when in session, is always open to the public and anyone can come (and often does) to watch and listen to an ongoing case. In the instance of completed cases - you may not find a "free" answer. Start with the Clerk of The Court where the case was heard and ask about records of the proceedings of that particular case. Court records are "public" documents and you should be able to have access to them, but as far as getting a copy of them, almost all places now charge fees to cover their "administrative" costs. In many jurisdictions, 'minor' cases such as traffic or small claims do not make verbatim records (supplied by a court reporter, or recording) of what took place.

You can typically find free information on a court case by visiting the courthouse in which the case was filed and requesting to view the public record. You can also search online on the court's website or use a third-party website that provides access to court records.

One of the best resources for locating old Supreme Court cases is the searchable Justia Beta database, which maintains records of both cases and orders, dating back to the beginning of the Court.

You can also ask about a particular case on WikiAnswers.

To access the Justia Beta database, see Related Links, below.

Where do you find the Number to call for case number?

I THINK you're asking how to find a certain case number. Go to the Clerk of The Court and give them as much information as possible - case name (also known as the "style" of the case) - the approximate timeframe of the trial - and any other info that will help them with their search for the case number under which it was filed.

Where and how to search for court case filed by a certain company?

There is the obvious - entering the company's name in the search window of several search engines and seeing what info turns up. However, due to the massive volume of court cases and their associated filings, this info is are seldom available on-line. Your best bet would be to go the the office of the Clerk of The Court for the court system in which the case was filed and ask for their assistance. Try to be armed with as much info as possible (i.e.: names of defendant and/or plaintiff, date of the case - etc).

How can you find out someone auto ins info?

Ask them. With the current privacy laws you cannot find out someone else's business unless they tell you or you have a very good reason to have this info. The only case you would need their info is if you had an accident with them and in that case it would be on the accident report. This is the only way you can find out about someone else's auto insurance.

What papers need to be filed in court to get a court order against a police detective to release information that he found about a suspect?

If it's an active investigation you may not be able to get that info. If you are not involved in the case you may not be able to get it either (Privacy issues may play a part) It is difficult for private individuals to obtain that kind of info but, if you ARE involved in the case, your attorney can probably get all the info needed through disclosure, etc.
