THE DALTON,S LAW OF PARTIAL PRESSURES.Dalton's law is useful to calculate pressure of a gas collected over water in the labouratery. When a gas is collected by downward displacement of water it became moist due to water vapour

there for, observed pressure is equal to sum of the pressure of dry gas and the pressure of watervapour[aqueous tension].aqueous tension is constant at a particular temperature

vapour pressure of the dry gas is equal to the difference between total pressure and aqueous tension

Dalton's law (ideal gas law related) states that in a totally confined (e.g, two different confinements; one is the air around us, another is the air in our lungs/alveoli) mixture of gasses, with each their own partial pressure (PpO2, PpCO2, PpN2 ect) equal out to a sum of one total pressure.

Ptotal = Pp1 + Pp2 +....+ PpN

Short, partial pressures sum up to become a total pressure. In gases.

Henry's law states that

At a constant temperature, the amount of a given gas dissolved in a given type and volume of liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of that gas in equilibrium with that liquid.

it states that for an ideal solution, the partial vapour pressure of a component is equal to the mole fraction of the component times the partial vapour pressure of the component when pure.

The difference between vapor pressure of a pure solvent and its partial pressure?

vapor pressure of a pure solvent is the pressure needed for the gas to escape the pure solvent in vapor form. its partial pressure in this case will be the pressure of that escaped vapour (in the mixture of air). in simpler terms vapor pressure describes a single condensable system (just the vapor of the solvent and the liquid state of the solvent) while its partial pressure describes the multicomponent system (air). they are essentially the same thing describing different systems

What is water activity?

Water activity refers to a ratio. This ratio consists of the water's vapor pressure divided by the water's standard state partial vapor pressure.

What is the physical state of Br at room temperature?

The exact state of Bromine at Room temperature and pressure is between liquid and gas - as all liquids have a partial gas pressure. You can make its state change by degree by very minor changes in properties. But bromine's boiling is considered to be above room temperature.

What temp does water freeze at partial vacuum?

The freezing point of water decreases as the pressure decreases in a partial vacuum. At standard atmospheric pressure (1 atm), water freezes at 0°C (32°F). However, at reduced pressures, water can remain in a liquid state at temperatures below 0°C due to the lower pressure affecting its freezing point.

Does Dalton's law of partial pressures state that total pressure exerted by a mixture of gases is the sum of the pressures exerted independently by each gas in the mixture?

Yes. That is True. Dalton's Law is: that pressure exerted by a mixture of gases is the sum of the pressures exerted independently by each gas in the mixture. Reference: Human Anatomy and Physiology Marieb and Hoehn

Which muscle generally remains in a state of partial contraction when your legs are straight?

Your quadriceps femoris are generally in a state of partial or full contraction if the leg is completely or somewhat straight.

What muscle generally remain in a state of partial contraction when you are keeping your legs straight?

The quadriceps femoris are naturally in a state of partial or full contraction if the leg is completely or somewhat straight.
