If you plot current against variations in voltage for a semiconductor device, such as a diode, you will find that it does not result in a straight-line graph. So we say that the device is 'non-linear'. Ohm's Law ONLY applies to linear devices (those that produce a straight-line graph).

In other words, Ohm's Law only applies to devices whose ratio of voltage to current is constant for variations in voltage.
