"Daniel" is the King James spelling of the Hebrew name "dah-nee-EL".

Yiddish has no need to change a perfectly good Hebrew name to something else.

In modern Hebrew, it's "dah-nee-EL", and in Yiddish, it's most often something

close to "dah-NEEL" or "daw-NEEL".
