the school starts normally at 8 am (each school can choose when to start between 7.15 and 8.30 am) and ends at 1.30 pm ( 6 lessons). the latest school can end is 6.30 pm ( 10 lessons)

There are three types of education in Germany.

The best school you can go to is "Gymnasium", you normally go 12-13 years to this type of school and after that you get graduated and have the "Abitur"(~high school diploma). With the "Abitur" you have the permission to study.

The "second-best" school is "Realschule". You get a "Realschulabschluss" (diploma) after 10 years and usually go to a training school after that to learn a profession that doesn't require studying. Many professions in Germany are learnt via a "dual system", which means you are simultaneously trained in school AND in a training company/facility (like an office, shop, practice, hospital, etc.). But there also are job trainings which are focused on school - involving practical courses for several weeks.

Almost the same goes for the third type of school, the "Hauptschule" (translates as "main school" or "basic school"). You graduate from "Hauptschule" after 9 years and also learn an "average" profession. Although with a graduation from "Hauptschule" you normally learn rather "practical" jobs (like craftsman or gardener), while with a graduation from "Realschule" you mostly perform something like office jobs or nursering.

Job Trainings also can qualify you to study in certain fields - it's not the same as "Abitur", though.

You also can usually get a higher school-diploma, so if you went to "Hauptschule" for instance, you can choose between doing a job training or going to school some longer to get a "better" diploma" (or even "Abitur").

You also can get a better diploma or "Abitur" if you already learnt a profession - this can be done through certain education offers (like "Abendschule" = "evening school" for instance).
