It actually depends on the schools and on the age group. At primary school the teachers do what they want so they can have 30 minutes of maths, 2 hours of French etc... But the school day often starts at 8.30am and ends at 4.30pm (5.30 is common for teenagers), with one or two hours for lunch. The older you get, the more classes you get.
