== English isn't all that easy. The writing doesn't match the pronounciation very well. There are irregular verbs, little standardization to past perfect forms, irregular plural forms of nouns and a huge vocabulary. There is no single answer to the question. It depends on your native language(s) and on other languages that you already know. For native speakers of English, learning Spanish or Italian is relatively easy, while Arabic, Hungarian and Japanese for example are hard. Due to inflictions from a host of sources including Saxon, Latin, French and Celtic tongues, English is one of the most complicated languages on earth, making it among if not the most difficult language to learn. A reinforcement of this is the fact that there are more illiterate English-speaking children than those that speak any other language. Answer It's not an easy question to answer but I'll have a go. Everyone learns their native language successfully during childhood. It's no more difficult for an English child to acquire English than it is say for a Chinese child to acquire Mandarin (or vice versa) and the same applies for any nationality or language group.

But in terms of foreign languages different people may find different languages hard. You would have to take a person's first (native) language, age, gender in to account as well as the method by which they have acquired the language, literacy level, motivation and reason for the learning the language and previous language learning experience to get a fuller picture.

I disagree with the comments claiming English is most difficult. Though it may be the case for some people depending on the factors mentioned above. English has very few inflections and no gender or case agreements as with many other languages so it definitely is not that complex. Although the tenses, phrasal verbs and irregular spelling can make English difficult to learn for some. However a lot more non-native English speakers learn English successfully in comparison to native English speakers who learn other languages with success. Many non-native English speakers in my opinion can even speak English better than the natives.

All languages have their difficulties which can make them difficult for a foreigner. Slavonic languages (Russian, Polish, Serbian etc) are considered to be very tough due to the extensive case and gender systems. Far Eastern languages likewise but due to the complex sound systems. Finnish, Turkish inflect an awful lot. A lot of Eastern languages from South Asia & the Far East have completely different word order to most European languages. Native American languages are very conceptual with extensive spoken systems.

What is worlds toughest language to learn?

in this world of many cultures, diversities, religion, people, caste, creed etc, there are an enormous numbers of languages which these people speak in different countries spell the beans about which language is the toughest is like you are in the web world finding for the toughest language in the world. But to your dissapointment, this is actually a very subjective question whose answer depends on the way the meaning of "tough" is defined. Even if this concept is objectively defined, it might still be difficult to set up an experimental work where native speakers from a particular language are taught different languages to compare levels of "difficulty". There are simply too many variables involved in the process including age, cultural and educational background, gender, methods employed to teach the sampled languages, etc. that it would be almost impossible to control all of them to provide a valid and reliable result.

Which is the easiest and the toughest language of the world?

If Icelandic is not the toughest, it is certainly among the toughest. I'm not sure what the easiest is, although Spanish may be it. The pronunciation is very uniform and there aren't many vocabulary surprises. The grammar and syntax are the same as the standard Romance languages.Answer from a linguist:Everyone is wired differently, so there's actually no such thing as "easiest" or "toughest" when it comes to language. It depends entirely on the person and their ability and motivation. Spanish may be easy for some, and difficult for others. The same person that struggles in Spanish may find that German is very easy.English speakers generally have a more difficult time learning foreign languages than others, because English has become an international language, reducing the need to learn foreign languages. Also, English speakers generally live in districts where foreign languages are not taught in school until Middle School or Junior High School.
