Ans1 .Do some research and think about what you want (wheels, telescoping handle, soft vs hard sides, interior storage options, etc.). If you want the highest quality, be prepared to spend some pretty big bucks. There are luggage/travel stores, which carry a wide range of products. Department stores and discounters also have a good selection. HSN and QVC regularly have special deals on luggage sets, which can be innovative and a bargain (if they have the features you want).

Ans2. I would agree - it all depends on what you're really looking for. I look for style, durability (material and frame) and functional features. I like the Briggs & Riley luggage collections the best. They have a great range so you'll probably find one that suits your needs - whether it's business or pleasure. I have a set of luggage from their Transcend collection. I love to travel and find Briggs & Riley's functional features very useful. Like my TD-U521X. It's a 21" wheeled carry-on with an Outsider handle system-the bars are fixed on the outside leaving the interiors flat for wrinkle-free packing. And the built-in garment sleeve holds 3 to 4 hanging items. The zip-around expansion adds 3" to the main compartment, whenever you need it. Pretty cool, wouldn't you say?

Most durable and lightweight would be a line called Salsa, by a company called Rimowa, but it's not cheap.


Ans 2. As a stress management consultant who's doing pretty well for herself, I'd say the best luggage for me is one that is durable and functional. I have a set of luggage from the Briggs & Riley Baseline collection which I'm quite happy with. The 21" wheeled carry-on with a one-touch expansion system is one of my favorites and probably the one I use the most for domestic travel. The Outsider handle system leaves the inside bottom of the carry-on flat for easier packing. I like the removable garment sleeve which can pack 1 to 2 suits - so it's great for a 2-3 day trip. If I come back with more stuff than I took, then the one-touch expansion system opens the bag to create 2.5 inches of extra packing space. Briggs & Riley makes bags that are real stress savers-the best kind of luggage, wouldn't you say?

This is probably not the ideal answer but I will try and give you some help. The best luggage all depends on what kind of traveling you are doing...

Duffel Bags:

If you you are doing a lot of of door activities in your travel, a duffel bag would probably be the best. If you want a rolling duffel, my favorite is the are the eBags mother lode for its many compartments and storage. If you want a normal duffel bag, I really like the North Face base camp for its extreme durability.

Hard-sided Luggage:

Hard sides luggage is a favorite among the frequent traveler crowd for its durability and longevity. although it tends to be a little heavier, many companies are using new materials to make them lighter and more durable. If money is no object, check out Zero Halliburton. This is known the absolute best hard sided luggage period. If that is a little out of the price range, try the Traveler's Choice Rome set.

Regular or "Soft Sided" Luggage:

This is probably the most popular type of luggage. There are so many brands and styles it is hard to quantify. However, if you are looking for long lasting good quality, try Victorinox or Tumi. If you want something a little more economical try Skyway, Samsonite, or eBags.
