There are many browns so it depends. Try to notice if the brown has some red, green, yellow, or gray in it. One way to tell is if you can hold the brown up to a pure white then you will likely notice the other colors in it. Next try to match the brown with colors that go with the other color in the brown or are the complementary color to it. For example: if my brown has a reddish cast then I could match it with reds or greens since green is the complementary color to red. Complementary colors are opposite from one another on the color wheel.
