how many stamps for a 3.4oz envelope
I successfully mail CDs all the time with 2 stamps.
It depends on how heavy the contents are and how big the envelope is.

As many as will fit. I have one envelope in my collection with 44 stamps on it! The sender used one cent stamps to mail it. Some people will overlap stamps to get more to fit, which is okay as long as the Post Office can plainly see that they are all there.
To mail a 9 by 12 envelope within the United States, you typically need two Forever stamps, as the cost for mailing a large envelope (flats) is higher than a standard letter. As of my last update, the rate for a first-class large envelope starts at the price of a single Forever stamp, and additional postage is required for extra weight. Always check the current USPS rates, as they may change.
It depends on the weight, destination, country of origin and how it is to be transported. It's a trick question! -Only one if it is the right amount! :)
A 4-ounce large envelope currently costs $1.57.
At that weight, it would be classified as a large envelope rather than a letter. As of 2016, the rate is $3.04.
Depends all on the weight.
Take your envelope to the Post Office and they will weight it, and give you your answer as the cost of mailing anything is done by weight.
