You can't travel from Paddington to Edinburgh, you will have to leave from Kings Cross which is about four miles from Paddington.
Single Zone 1 tube ticket is £4 (I think) unless you have an Oyster card. If there are 2 or more travelling then a taxi would be cheaper.
