If pants do not have a zipper and button (example: elasticized waist), make sure the front is facing away from you, put each leg in as described and pull them up.

Use a bar of soap. Rub it on both sides of the zipper, then work the head up and down. You might need to re-soap the zipper once or twice more and work the head up and down a few times to ensure the soap gets into the grooves. To put in a zipper, first, position the zipper tape along the edge of the fabric where you want it to go, ensuring the right sides are facing each other. Use pins or clips to hold it in place, then sew along the zipper's edge with a sewing machine, using a zipper foot for better control. After sewing one side, repeat the process on the other side of the zipper, then finish by topstitching if desired for a polished look. Finally, test the zipper to ensure it functions smoothly.
