People get Britanny spaniels' tails cut off mostly because the dogs don't look right unless they do. Docking tails for many hunting dogs began as a way to reduce the long, feathery hair that gets easily tangled in the brush and can pick up burrs and stickers.

No not usually unless they get them docked (cut stubby). Although that was banned i think last April so the spaniels tail would usually grow to a normal length unless docked for sporting or medical reasons.
