Wolves were at one time on the brink of extinction and were rescued from becoming so in the 1970s. They were protected until 2011 when they were stripped of their protection under the Endangered Species Act by the US government. Instead they transferred the burden of this management to individual states and since then, more than 2,700 wolves have been slaughtered.

Predators for the otter include wolves and large cats, but they are protected when in the water.
Wolves are not like the big bad wolves you have read or heard about in fairy tales! Occasionally they have been heard to attack cattle, but they are nice peaceful animals generally and they need to be protected so they do not become extinct.
No but they were back in the old days they were endangered but now there not there being protected at yellow stone national park
people thought that wolves needed to be killed because they supposedly killed cattle and other livestock. Wolves were hunted down and killed. They even had bounties on them. They became endangered and today, they are protected and they are growing back in population :) yay for wolves! :P
Wolves can't stay solitary because they stay in a pack for protection of their fellow pack and for unity and strength. They are always in daner of getting hunted so they are better protected if they live in a pack.
