Today my dad and I were walking down a road in Texas and he heard a loud and distinct rattling. I for one kept walking but my dad stopped, he told me he thought it was a rattler. So we started throwing rocks at it(I know this may sound a little crude but we wanted to find out if it was a rattlesnake or not)all of a sudden a cat burst out of the bushes. And if we had left that cat alone I feel sure that the cat would have killed it.
so to answer this (your) question, yes I feel that cats can rattlesnake.
Hope this helps, Jordan Elsass

No there are no Rattlesnakes on Martha's Vineyard. However there are Rattlesnakes in Massachusetts. They are called Timber Rattlesnakes and they are found in the Blue Hills Reservation near Boston, and the Connecticut River Valley and the Berkshires. Rattlesnakes in Massachusetts are ENDANGERED so it is illegal to kill, Harm, or Harass these reptiles.
Two of the three species found there, eastern diamondback, and timber rattlesnakes are protected.
