Yes,
But you need to train your cat to stay off the table or whatever your going to keep the gerbil on. And just for in-case your cat goes on the table wondering, "What's making that noise?", you want to make sure it's a heavy glass or wire cage not plastic. Besides if it is a plastic cage your gerbil will chew through it and escape. If your gerbil escapes your cat will find it catch it or kill it.
Also remember to give your cat as much attention as before you got the gerbil or it will become jealous, and it might get so crazy that it will find a way into the cage and kills it.
And one more thing remember that they will be a big responsibility.
Yes they do, they just live inside of a house. But big cats are also just bigger than them.
Gerbils can (and should) live with a gerbil friend or two of the same sex--that's it. No other animal is safe to live with a gerbil in the same cage or tank.
No. The gerbil will eat the mouse
No. Cats will often look for other cats that they share living space with, so if siblings have been living in the same house, or have been together since birth, they will often settle down beside each other for warmth. But to a cat there is very little that is special about a sibling; once they have been separated for a while, they are no longer companions but competitors. And unrelated cats that live in the same house are as likely to cuddle up as siblings who live in the same house.
yes but put up a divider to eliminate competition
No, Because Big Cat Are Not The Same Of Little Cat
yes, gerbils like to live in groups like a meerkat in australia. if the cage is big enough, if u have a small cage they will get territorial
Yes but u would have to get them at the same age and from the same family of gerbils
many animals especially gerbils enjoy company of their own kind and if you don't want baby gerbils the same sex keeps that from happening.
Hamster and gerbils do not have different food the eat the same food and love the same treats.
The Mongolinian Gerbil (a.k.a the one most people keep as a pet) is found in Mongolia(no suprise there) but they also have reletives from the same genus(Gerbillus) Living in arid regions of Asia minor and Africa.Gerbils live in Mongolia and a few other deserts.
