Bison are still alive they are the same animal as the American Buffalo.
there are still herds of bison in Yellowstone national park and sanctuarys across the world
Who are the plains Indians? I'm not too sure that they exist. Not by that name.
I believe you are referring to bison. Yes, bison and their Eurasian counterpart wisent did exist at the same time as mammoths. In fact, they coexisted in many of the same areas.
There are two species of Bison in the genus Bison. The American Bison is Bison bison and the European Bison is Bison bonasus.
The European bison (or wisent) is a vulnerable species that is most common in Eastern Europe. There are few that exist in the wild to this day, the majority of them being in western Belarus. Thanks to successful reintroduction, European bison are being spread throghout their home continent, with wild bison roaming in most Eastern European countries, as well as Spain.Poland
The bison is also known as the buffalo. A link is posted.
