Shih tzus are very intelligent and easy to train, they are afectionate sometimes, but my shih tzu growls and bares his teeth at everyone and bites my family. they do have a tendancy to bite, but dont be put off not all shih tzus are like this.
the shih tzu breed is not a predator, it was bred to be a house pet, although very playful he loves to sleep
Last time i was at the pet store, Males were $250 and Females were $275
Shih tzu puppies are found from looking in new papers, usually it talks about puppies that are ready to adopted. Some pet stores also have puppy shih tzus, but usually its more expensive. Shih puppies from a new paper can differ from $200-$800 (i think, because i got mine for $700) , while the pet stores sell them for thousands of dollars. A pound is where you usually find ADULT shih tzus.

Theres some stuff from your local pet store or your vet that you can give them.I do believe you put it in their food.
I think malteses are healthier and even have a longer lifespam compared to shih tzus living in the same conditions. This is one of the reasons why I chose a Maltese but if you really like shih tzus I can tell you that my neighbour's girl is already 9 years old and really healthy and playful, so always your care is important. Hope this helps. My shih tzu lived a very healthy life to 17 and a half years old he was born 92 he just died this year. so i don't know what you saying about them not living long lives. he was tied as the oldest dog ive seen in his pet commentary

All Shih Tzus do that so it is nothing to worry about, but i think it is suppose to clean their eyes like tears clean our eyes except their run-off is red so it stains the fur. I don't know why it smells sour. But for my shih Tzus, i use Angel Eyes, which is little powder you put in their food. It helps alot with the nasty smell and even clears up their face a little. It is a bit expensive though. You can Find it in some popular pet catologs and definetly online.
Shih Tzus can be spayed or neutered when they are around 6 months old. It's important to consult with your veterinarian to determine the best timing for the procedure based on your individual pet's health and development.
Shih Tzus, like many dogs, may lick open wounds as a natural instinct to clean and soothe the area. Their saliva contains enzymes that can help with healing and may provide temporary relief from pain or irritation. However, excessive licking can lead to further irritation or infection, so it's important for pet owners to monitor their dog's behavior and consult a veterinarian if needed. Additionally, stress or anxiety can also prompt this licking behavior.
