I'm pretty sure that they do not have puppies in the Iditarod. They wouldn't be able to pull the sled's load and run fast and far enough. It would also be impractical for a musher to have puppies on his or her team. It would take forever to get harness's the right size and make sure that every puppie gets the amount of food it needs (age would change the amount of food needed).
