Depends on the situation,but yes I think they are more clever then dogs. Think about it,most cats can live on their own since there cousins are wild cats. Cats can kill small animals for food and are VERY agile and flexible, so they can get themselves out of anything you put at them. Also, in personal experience both my cats have learned to open most of the doors in my house, climb jeans(yes they really can climb your pants lol), climb curtains, and survive during a hurricane(our cat ran out during one and was completely dry when we found him). While our dog constantly needs attention because she craves human affection and still dosnt relize she can jump the gate in the house to get over to the other half of the house.
