You don't have to, some cavy owners don't. But most of them bathe them about every 3,4 or 6 months. If you don't know how, here's how. First you need shampoo. You can get guinea pig shampoo at the petstore but that may sometimes be too expensive. You can use light kitten shampoo as an alternative. Or you can go to somewhere like Walmart and go to the travel section and get a travel size johnsons baby shampoo. That is all you need because you only need a dime sized drop and you don't bathe you Ginny very often anyway. Fill a bathtub, sink, or tub with Luke warm water to one or one anda half inches. Maybe two. Put a towel on the bottom so your piggy doesn't slip. Lower your guinea pig gently into the water. With a beaker, measuring cup, or just a regular cup and slowly pour lukewarm water over you guinea pig avoiding it's face and ears.gently rub your piggy and then squeeze a dime sized drop of shampoo on your hand. Lather gently. You can use a small washcloth to wash his cheeks and such. Then pour some water onto the pig again and rub the soap off. You should probably do this 2-4 times or until the soap is gone. A treat to keep the pig occupied is a good idea. Some guinea pigs like water and will swim around. Most don't like it however so be ready for a struggle. Wear clothes that can get wet and get ready to get wet! Some owners even wear long sleeve shirts and get into the bathtub and give them the bath while joldig them. A long sleeve shirt is unnecessary if your pig doesn't scratch you. Make sure the water isn't high enough to reach the guinea pigs face. After the bath, use a towel to dry the guinea pig and use a hair dryer on medium and don't use it if it scares your guinea pig. You can brush your guinea pig, it helps get some of the water. Then leave in a small warm box, with a red warm water bottle/bag and if you don't have one of these, you can use a heating mat or a regular bottle filled with warm water. Make sure to place a towel on any of these items to prevent burns. You probably don't need these if it is a hot summer day. Place a treat inside too, and don't put your guinea pig in the cage until completely dry. :) good luck!
It is fine to never bath your guinea pig. They dont need a bath because they clean themselves.
yes, you should bathe your guinea pig once a month.
I would not recommend giving a guinea pig any younger than 3 months a bath.
when it stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????
Oil
about once a week
guinea pigs bite them self because they are itchy SO GIVE THEM A BATH
i would say maybe a sink or if they don't have space there, then the bath tub.
You should not give a guinea pig a shower once a week. I only bath my guinea pigs if they are really in need of a bath or if I'm taking them to a show. I would say a few times a year if you want to bath them, but not once a week
i think an average guinea pig should 5-15 times a day i can ensure you if they have more they are perfectely fine for an example my guinea pig did about 30 one day but that was because it had a big meal.
Actually you CAN give a Guinea pig a bath but you should not put them back in their cage when they are damp (this is how they get colds). It should be around 50 degrees or higher when you give him/her a bath but be sure to remember to dry your friend with a towel (NO HAIR DRYERS). SQ
Are you sure your guinea pig isn't shivering? Make sure the water is tepid.
