All cities require dogs to be licensed, no matter what breed of dog it is. It is how they keep track of how many of each breed there are and which dogs are not current with rabies shots. After your puppies first rabies shot, take the certificate to the city offices building and register your dog. It doesn't cost much (my city is less than $5 a year, $9 for 3 yrs). They will have you complete a form with M or F breed spay/neutered name address and owner name. You receive the license tag to put on the dogs collar before you leave.
