it's never possible. the heat from the sand is far too hot for any animal that walks, with it's belly.. to last 8 hours in the Sahara.it's one of the hots spot in tropical Africa

No, they do not normally live in the desert. However, a few years ago a group of gators was discovered living in the Rio Grande in the Chihuahuan Desert near El Paso. They did not get there by natural means so must have been illegally released by someone.
