No it doesn't hurt. If you slowly pull it down and keep your hand on the tail, it will remain straight.But if you slowly pull then let go it would just curl up again. It wont stay straight like that forever though....it might if you use hair straighteners ( but don't cause that would be exceptionally cruel)!
