This was before the Asiatic lion was reduced to such low numbers that their are now less than 200 left in the Gir forest. An average male liger weighs over 900 pounds and standing almost 12 feet tall.

No, because they need very special health needs and cannot survive on their own therefore they cannot. Also when Ligers are breed in circuses when they get to big they get thrown in the wild so they usually die in less than a week in the wild because of their health needs which are almost never met
