Even if a prey species reproduces incredibly fast ,this will just mean more food for the predators. More food for predators usually translates into more predators and more mouths to feed.

If this doesn't balance out the predator or the prey species die off but if it does balance out it is usually because the predators need a lot of time to find the prey or actually eat them, like if they had to guard their meal against scavengers.

What happens to the prey population if the predator population increases?

it stays the same or increases with the preythe prey will run out of food making it's population decrease. that will cause the predator's population to go down because of the lack of food

What is a limiting factor for the A limiting factor in an ecosystem is a needed resource that is in limited supply what would be a limiting factor for a predator species?

A limiting factor for a predator species could be a decrease in prey population, which would reduce the predator's food source. Additionally, competition with other predator species for the same prey can also be a limiting factor. Environmental factors such as habitat loss or degradation could further impact the predator's ability to thrive.

Symbiosis relationship of lion and zebra?

Lions and zebras have a predator prey relatiuonship. For example the lion is the predator obviously because it is the top of the food chain and the zebra is the prey because it get eaten. They aren't related in any other way.Actually there is, they live in the same habitat.

Are predators the same as prey?

It doesn't matter. The predetor will eventually kill out the prey but then the predetors population would decrease because of the lack of food. Eventually the the prey population will rise back up. This sort of "cycle" will happen again and again. It doesn't matter. The predetor will eventually kill out the prey but then the predetors population would decrease because of the lack of food. How a predator prey relationship can be a mechanism of population control?

As the predator population goes up, the prey population goes down, and vice versa.

How does the population of prey affect the population of the predator?

Predator and prey evolve together. The prey is part of the predator's environment, and the predator dies if it does not get food, so it evolves whatever is necessary in order to eat the prey: speed, stealth, camouflage (to hide while approaching the prey), a good sense of smell, sight, or hearing (to find the prey), immunity to the prey's poison, poison (to kill the prey) the right kind of mouth parts or digestive system, etc. Likewise, the predator is part of the prey's environment, and the prey dies if it is eaten by the predator, so it evolves whatever is necessary to avoid being eaten: speed, camouflage (to hide from the predator), a good sense of smell, sight, or hearing (to detect the predator), thorns, poison (to spray when approached or bitten), etc. The fastest lions are able to catch food and eat, so they survive and reproduce, and gradually, faster lions make up more and more of the population. The fastest zebras are able to escape the lions, so they survive and reproduce, and gradually, faster zebras make up more and more of the population. An important thing to realize is that as both organisms become faster to adapt to their environments, their relationship remains the same: because they are both getting faster, neither gets faster in relation to the other. This is true in all predator-prey relationships.

What would happen to a population of predator if there was a sudden increase in food for the prey?

It would Increase or stay the same becuz More Food for Prey = More prey Nd More Prey = More food For Predator Get it I Tryd to Make This Easy For You To Understand and IM SUrprised I Pay attenstion in Biology :D

What are the effects of hunting animals too much?

Depends on the animal that is being over hunted. If it's a predator, then the number of its natural prey will increase. Might even cause numbers of other natural predators of that prey to increase, which could cause numbers of other species that they prey on to decrease, and so on. If it's prey, then the number of its natural predatores will decrease and might become endangered themselves. The over population of prey will compete with other species of animals that feed on the same food. These most probably will disrupt balance between animals that rely on the same rescources to survive.

What is the Outcome of Predation?

a. These are the same axes used for Lotka-Volterra competition. b. The predator population can increase only vertically. c. The prey population can increase only horizontally.

Predators and prey are they the same?

No, they are complete opposites. Predators are the ones hunting, and the prey is what the predator is hunting.

What is a period in which the densities of populations increase or decrease at the same time called?

That period is called synchronous population fluctuation. It occurs when the densities of different populations rise or fall together due to shared factors like resource availability, climate changes, or predator-prey dynamics.

Are turtles a predator or prey?

in fact turtles are the same they hunt and the are hunted
