How can you get your German Shepherd puppy to drink more water?

You can get your dog to drink more water by adding low sodium chicken broth to it to enhance the flavor. The bowl might also be the issue. Dogs tend to like to eat/drink out of porcelain better than plastic due to the brighter colors and better odor. Once I added the chicken broth to my puppies water she started drinking much more. You may need to put some water around his mouth and on its nose to make it want to drink. It also depends on how old the dog is to know exactly whats wrong. Try adding water to your dogs food and see if it will eat the food.

Have you tried a cat water fountain? The water is stored in the fountain, and released into the base, where it will pool. The cat can drink from there or from the running stream. Eventually, the water will re-enter the fountain, where it will be filtered and released again. Thus, your cat will have constant access to fresh water, and you will not have to replace it as often.

You can't force your puppy to drink more water. When it gets thirsty is when he will drink his water. I suggest that you give him fresh water 3 times day because my puppy is like that. He doesn't drink old water. So you should change his water in the morning when you wake up, in the afternoon around 3:30 and then new water at night before you go to bed. But make sure you give him cold water because no one likes warm water.

Either give it a drink, give it a shave, give it shade, give it a spray of water, or as a last resort give it something to take it's mind of the thirst. Eg.-a toy.
