Much of the communication in 1939 depended upon location. Specifically, the forms of Mass Communication weren't as developed as they are nowadays. So much of the communication was informal by word of mouth, in person, or verbally.

There were also written forms of communication. For example, there were small town and big city newspapers. Not everyone had subscriptions to magazines. There was some use of the postal service and of the telegraph.

Not everyone had a telephone. Not everyone had a radio.
