The bearings of a 1984 Mallard travel trailer can be greased by jacking up the trailer and removing the wheel hubs to access the wheel bearings. Pack the bearings with the proper grease and replace the wheel hubs and tires.
Well to begin with how often do you use your trailer? I recommend that you should check and grease your bearings every six months at the least.
Jack it up, remove the wheel, pry off the center cap, remove the cotter pin and nut, then pull the bearings out with the hub. Note that some trailer bearings are sealed and replaced as an entire unit.
lube the whell bearings once a year is usually all that is needed
some have a grease sert on the hub, other wise remove the hub cover, and nut that holds bearings in place, and hand repack,
When bearings on your trailer seize, it can lead to increased friction, causing the wheel to stop rotating properly. This may result in overheating, potential damage to the axle, and even complete wheel failure. If not addressed promptly, it can compromise the safety and stability of the trailer, making it difficult to tow. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent bearing seizure.
are you talking about the front or back? the back bearings are a non serviceable part, the in order to change the bearings u need to change the hub, the front bearings can be separated, but chances are if you have to change your hub, bearings will have to be changed also, you will damage the bearings trying to remove them and put them back in, so my answer is yes. get the parts yourself from ecstuning.com and you will save alot of money over dealer or most shops.
