To hoof-pick a horse you slide your hand down the inside of their leg and ask them to up and tap then GENTLY scrape away the dirt and muck.
Never! Ever! press down hard as you will hurt the horse.
Hope i helped! xx
A hoofpick is best. It gives you a better tool to pry packed in mud, snow, ice and/or rocks out of the hoof.
Your horse shouldn't have trash in its hooves if its in a nice healthy pasture. But you still want to pick up your horses feet daily to clean them out with a hoofpick to remove any rocks or debre that is in there; so as to prevent any tissue damage and rotting.
you pick around the frog which it a triangle shape ( the sensitivity's part on the horses hoof ) and with the hoof brush you brush out your hoof :) You pick out the horses hooves to check for stones, bruises, if your horse wears shoes you check for loose shoes, and other things that could be hurting your horse.
A mustang horse is a wild horse in which can be saved once rescued, there is no key to taming these wild species of horses. They will usually be very thin and underweight though they adapt well to this state, as they were raised in the wild. They will first need to be stocked up with food; these usually work best:Fresh grown grass or hay.Beet or plain horse mix.Left-over vegetables and fruit. They will need to be groomed thoroughly, a curry comb and a hard brush, body brush, face brush and hoofpick are required. They should be allowed to be in fields in the day and in a stable at night. Check online for more ideas on halter-breaking, but be careful if you are trying to saddlebreak a wild horse as they are not naturally ridden.
Horses do have frogs,a frog is located on the bottom of the hoof. If you look closely when you pick the hoof you will see a part of the hoof that looks like a frog's foot. Yup, but it is very delicate and important to the horse, so be very careful when you use the hoof pick, you don't want to stab the soft tissue.
