This is a dumb question. DOGS CANT GET SALMONELLA POISONING! But if your dog eats raw chicken wash of his/her paws and mouth after or YOU could get salmonella poisoning! Also if your dog eats a squirrel you are on trouble take him/her to the vet immediately because you don't know if that squirrel had rabies.

The next thing you should do is try to determine where the Salmonella came from. See if he got into something that he should not have gotten into. Some rawhide treats have caused outbreaks. If you think it is a commercial product, check with your vet and public health folks. Also search the internet for any reports on the products you feed your dog.
