How do you make your dog like a guard dog?

Well, first you can get a dog that was MADE to be a guard dog like German Sheperds mostly the big dogs. The only dog that is small and is made to be a guard dog is a Snhowzers. They may be tiny but they have very sharp teeth. I have seen one at a pet center and it started biteing me and my mom same exp. with the Golden Retriever.

Now to TRAIN a dog to be a guards dog is a tad hard. Try talking to it and say protect this house and do test. So, pretend to be a burgerlur or something and see if your dog attacks. If not try giving it a treat and loving it and it might love you back. Then it will love you back so your dog won't let anything hurt you. I hope this works for you.

Play rough with your dog. Teach it to act aggressive. Reward the dog. if things get to out of hand, walk away like a dog in a "pack" would.

Try this with your dog:

after playing roughly with him/her push her away, if she comes back hard and tries to bite or nip you know that you've made a good guard dog. Repeat several times until he/she gets the hand of it.

I never had to train my pitbull as a guard dog. I only teached him not to bite anyone when I'm walking him around and other basic teaching like the only place he could go to the bathroom and to be a docile dog. Pitbulls are smart and when they grow up, they will tell when they are needed in a situation. I rather deal with my problems alone. The dog could guard my home when we are not around.
