You can help prairie dogs by donating to wildlife charity's and if you are related to any farmers or are one or have any other connections to a farmer tell them to not kill them.

Strength in Numbers. African wild dogs are much smaller than their neighbors like Lions, Leopards etc. But they always live in packs and help one another when in trouble. This helps them stay out of trouble. A adult lion can easily kill a single wild dog but wouldn't risk taking on a pack of wild dogs.
Is your coon dog altered? That would help his aggressiveness. Also, it will prevent other intact dogs from attacking your dog.
