How long has dingoes been in Australia?

It would seem that they came to Australia with seafaring Asians. Scientists have dated a skeleton at 3500years, but believe the dingoes may have been here 3500 - 10,000 years. We know the aboriginal people have been here 40,000 -60,000 years, and 'domesticated' some dingoes, which the men took with them when hunting.

It depends on which country you are refering to. It is believed that dingoes came to Australia with seafaring Asians from anything from 3500 to 10,000 years ago. Obviously scientists are relying on DNA for this data. A skeleton of a dingo was found in a cave on the South Coast of Australia and seems to be about 3500, so if the dingoes arrived somewhere near Broome all those 1000's of years ago how long did it take for them to spread over Australia.? And how many other dingoes may have been brought here during that time and how many other domestic dogs that may have been brought here too before Captain Cook's time here ?

So it is an interesting mystery and will we really know the answers and does it really matter? The point is now to save what pure dingo we have left and remove the land of all the wild and feraL dogs and let the dingo look after the ecology as he used to do.

It is unknown when dingoes first came to Australia from Asia, but it is believed that they arrived between 3500 and 4000 years ago. It is unknown whether they arrived with the Aborigines, or whether they came with fishermen from southeast Asia.
