Red wolves are not extinct but are genetically not diverse. Perhaps 100 wolves in the wild and maybe 300 in captivity as of this writing.
about 4 I think
Arctic Wolves Timber Wolves Red Wolves Ethiopian Wolves Indian Wolves Asiatic Wolves European Wolves (probably extinct)
All of them... That's what "extinct" means. Although there are no known populations of gray wolves in South Dakota, that does not mean that gray wolves are extinct. There are gray wolves in other states, such as Minnesota which has the largest population of wolves. A successful reintroduction program has been done in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.
The wolves will die out and later become extinct. And when that happens, the hunters will also become extinct for reasons I can't tell you.
There are no known wolves in the wild in the tiny country of Liechtenstein. The European wolf has been extinct in that area for many decades.
Eastern Timber Wolves were heavily hunted in the United States and are considered locally extinct in the USA. Isolated individuals may be present here and there but predominantly they are extinct in the US. They can be found in Canada.
There is a single species of wolf but many subspecies, including several that are extinct. For a complete list click on this link
Zero. They went extinct even before conservationists.
It is hard to determine exactly how many animal species are extinct because some species become extinct before scientists even know they existed. As far as science can tell, there are over 900 extinct species.
Back a long time ago, a bounty was put on wolves to stop them from killing cattle. If you killed a wolf and brought in its ear, you would be paid. Red Wolves were heavily targetted. They are now extinct in many states. I'm not quite sure if there are any still around. It is important to save the wolves because so many of them have already been wiped out. Whether it be for their fur or because of them hunting livestock, wolves are seen as an enemy to man, while we are the true enemy to them.
Heavens, no! Grey wolves are flourishing in Alaska, Canada, and the western States like Idaho and Washington. In fact, in Idaho hunters were recently allowed to hunt and kill grey wolves because the wolves were rapidly depleting the Elk herds. The greys also kill far too many sheep and cattle, costing farmers much money.
pure red wolves are extint but in captivity there are about 300 red wolvesThe red wolf is one of the world's most endangered wild animals. The red wolf population was nearly wiped out by the 1960s. A small population of red wolves survived along the Gulf coast. The red wolf was declared an endangered species in 1973. Of the 17 remaining wolves captured, 14 were bred in successful captive breeding programs. The US Fish and Wildlife Service declared red wolves extinct in the wild in 1980.By 1987, enough red wolves were bred in captivity to begin a restoration program in North Carolina.Over 100 red wolves roam their native habitats in North Carolina and approximately 200 red wolves are in breeding programs across the United States, such as one on Florida's Gulf Coast. Interbreeding with the coyote is seen as the biggest threat to restoring red wolves on their home range.
