A kitten who is severely dehydrated should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. If your vet has directed you to provide Pedialyte to a dehydrated kitten, mix one teaspoon into tuna juice or chicken broth and offer it to the kitten several times a day.
Pedialyte is for when the child may be dehydrated, and is not to be given as a substitute for a drink. When the child is febrile (feverish) or dehydrated from excessive vomiting or diarhea, it is reccomended because it rehydrates and has essential electrolytes. Think of it as a cold medicine. You would give it to your child only if he/she has a cold and not at any other time.
Actually, dogs with parvo are easily become dehydrated so you should give him a lot or as long as he want. But puppies with parvo dont eat or drink so we have to force them with water (Never im foods) So use a srynge and give him 8drops of pedialyte on small srynge. (Full) That should be 50/50 at first. 50% water 50% pedialyte. You will do it every hour. If he didnt vomit for 3hours, stop giving him Pedialyte and try giving him Chicken broth. If you have to put it on a syringe, put it. You can also mix a dietary suplement with chicken broth and put it on sryinge and force him to eat it. Theost important thing you can do about your parvo-puppy is to keep an eye on him, pray for him and KEEP HIM DEHYDRATED and the pedialyte would help.

My vet had me give it to my Chocolate Lab when she was dehydrated. He also said Gatorade was okay.
I had a sick kitty who has been dehydrated and released to me by my vet for home care (hand feedings, giving antibiotics, etc.). My vet told me to give him a few cc's/ml's of Pedialyte every few hours to help with hydration. Also, my kitty seems to like it!
When my piggy was sick, the vet told me I could give her pedialyte. This helped her stay hydrated. Also you can give them Gatorade or Powerade. But Pedialyte is the best. Hope this helps.
Cow's milk shouldn't really be given to kittens. Cats and kittens are lactose intolerant, which means that cannot digest it very well and can cause diarrhea. A kitten with diarrhea will get dehydrated very quickly and if left untreated can become fatal. If you wish to give your kitten some milk, most stores now stock specially formulated cat or kitten milk which has no lactose in and is safe to drink.

If you suspect your kitten of being ill, you should take it to a vet. They will diagnose it correctly, and prescribe the proper medication.

I have a male black kitten and I named it Leo but his full name is Leonardo. Give your kitten a name that you'll be comfortable with for a long time. The kitten won't worry about it. There are no rules (shoulds).
