The oldest verified whale was a bowhead whale found off the coast of Alaska in 2007. The whale, estimated to be 130 years old, had a souvenir from the 1880's embedded in its neck: a 13-cm fragment of a bomb lance. Apparently the whale had been hit with the lance, broke it, and lived another 125 years to sneer about it.
